Why Paid For Car exists

I've been making car payments for most of my life. But I've also had a few cars get paid off over time — and I know firsthand how freeing it is to own a car without a car payment hanging over you.

We've been blessed in times of desperate need, too. Generous friends and family gifted us cars when we had no other way forward. And twice now, we've had the pleasure of doing the same for someone else — blessing people with a car they desperately needed.

None of these cars were new or luxurious. They were reliable transportation that delivered us where we needed to go. That's what matters.

I'm still working toward the goal myself: we have one paid-for car, and the other still has payments. I'm not writing this from the finish line — I'm walking the same road you are.

I'm a car guy. I've always done most of our cars' mechanical repairs myself. I listen to Clark Howard and Dave Ramsey, and I want their tips and tricks to be known by everybody — because nobody should be trapped by a car payment.

I'm a dad, and I want my kids to never know the weight of a car payment.

That's what Paid For Car is: a place for trust and advice. For people saving up, for people keeping a paid-off car running, and for the Givers who are blessed with enough to pass a car along to someone who needs it.
